After an unfortunate end to my cyclocross season, December became a month of rebuilding and refocusing. My broken leg forced me to end the season early, which meant no racing and a shift in priorities.

At the start of the month, I cautiously eased back into training. Short rides on the turbo trainer, with my leg secured in a moon boot, were small steps forward. Initially, it was all about regaining stability and working within the pain. But as the weeks went by, I gradually increased the duration of my rides, making steady progress.

By Christmas, I finally managed to start riding outside again. The first time back on the road was an incredible day. It felt amazing to leave the turbo behind and enjoy some proper outdoor riding.

The past year has had numerous highs but also quite a few challenges. I had an amazing start to my XC season, with podium finishes at every British XC round and a few top 30 results at Junior World Series events, including the Nove Mesto Junior World Series. However, two weeks before the British Championships, I broke my wrist. Despite this setback, I managed to come back and win the short track event. I then went on to race the relay and the XC at the World Championships.

Afterwards, I transitioned to a short-lived cross season, which did not go well as my form was suffering post-World Championships. Unfortunately, I broke my leg, ending my cross season and bringing my racing year to an early close.

Looking ahead, January brings more excitement. The next Olympic Development Program camp in Manchester is something to look forward to. These camps are always a great laugh and an excellent opportunity to build skills and fitness.

In February, the Chelva round of the Junior World Series marks my first cross-country race of the season. As I prepare for this, my focus is on ramping up training intensity and transitioning back to off-road riding. It is an important chance to earn early-season UCI points, which will be crucial for gridding later in the season. While it will be challenging to regain full fitness in time for Chelva, I will do everything I can to be as competitive as possible and secure as many points as I can.

This year has forced me to overcome some challenges and has reminded me to always focus on the positives and keep powering on. Can't wait for the year looking toward Chelva and beyond!

"First think of the person who lives in disguise,

Who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies.

Next, tell me what's always the last thing to mend,

The middle of middle and end of the end?

And finally give me the sound often heard,

During the search for a hard-to-find word.

Now string them together and answer me this,

Which creature would you be unwilling to kiss?"
